Crossrail project manager Linda Miller and HS2 Phase two managing director Alison Munro are among industry names honoured in the Queen's Birthday list ahead of International Women in Engineering Day later this week. Linda Miller, responsible for the complex Connaught Tunnels project in the east London arm of Crossrail, is awarded an OBE for services to engineering and promoting gender equality. Formerly chief executive of HS2 Ltd, Alison Munro is awarded a CBE for services to the rail industry.
The geologist and chief scientist at BP, Dr Angela Strank, is awarded a damehood for services to the oil and gas industry and encouraging women into STEM careers. Also honoured are RenewableUK chief executive officer Maria McCaffery, OBE, for work in the renewable energy sector; and Anglian Water's security manager Lynda Chamberlain, awarded an MBE for services to water supply resilience.
Nelson Ogunshakin, chief executive of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering, said: "My congratulations to all those from our industry to be honoured by the Queen in her birthday honours list. It's great to see people from the enginerring and construction sector being recognised for their work. Achieving national recognition is good and inspiring to attract new entrants to the sector, as it highlights the importance that infrastructure plays to our quality of life and to the economic prosperity of the nation."
