Kier starts Ealing high school project

Kier has been appointed by the Department for Education to deliver the redevelopment of Northolt High School in the London borough of Ealing. 

The redevelopment will bring new facilities to Ealing, both for teachers and students and for local people. 

The existing school buildings on site will be demolished to make space for the new facility which will accommodate the existing 900 secondary places, 200 sixth form places and 30 additional resource provision (ARP) places for student with special educational needs.

The new school will be designed and constructed over two phases, using Kier’s K-School design platform, and will be net zero carbon in its operation, in line with the DfE’s latest output specification requirements. I

t will consist of thermally efficient buildings, incorporating the use of ground source heat pump technology, and green roofs with photovoltaic panels. 

New facilities will also be made available for community use, including outdoor sport pitches, a three court multi-use games area (MUGA); long jump and outdoor gym area, amphitheatre with covered canopy, cinema, activity studio and fitness rooms. 

The redevelopment forms part of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme (SRP) scheme which focuses on the rebuilding and refurbishment of schools and sixth forms across England.

Northolt High School, the Department for Education and Kier recently hosted a groundbreaking event to celebrate the construction works on site.
