What makes us special
We are known for our dynamic and entrepreneurial approach to business, our technical excellence, our focus on health and safety and the industry leading commitment we make to the wellbeing and motivation of our most valuable asset – our people.
We invest in a range of initiatives that create a real sense of shared purpose within our business. These include: a healthy living bonus for all staff to support their commitment to sport and fitness at any level, an annual company-wide day of fun activities, days off for team-building and charity support, and fresh fruit delivered to every location each week.
Corporate social responsibility
We actively support two ‘Charities of the Year’ which are nominated by our employees, with matched funding to support the fund-raising efforts of our staff. All staff are actively encouraged to take an annual ‘Day off for good causes’. We also support local communities in all areas where we work and through our Learning Links Scheme, we have close links with many schools, colleges and universities local to each of our regional offices.
Green credentials
We have a Sustainability Working Group comprising representatives from the MD to early-career engineers and administrators from every team. This group helps to embed environmental sustainability into our company culture and practices, engages with employees to encourage new ideas, creates cost savings and constantly seeks to improve our sustainability performance. Our environmental policy also extends to proposing engineering solutions aimed at reducing the carbon footprint/environmental impact of a project.
Inclusion and diversity
We pride ourselves on our deep-seated company values, which include respect for each other and a strong sense of social responsibility. We actively provide opportunities to students to experience working-life in the engineering sector. In 2015 we provided work-place experience to 14 people from age 16 to 21, ranging from single days to entire college vacations. We also actively support the Year in Industry programme and provided real-work experience to three students during 2014/15.
